Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and JB Ventures LLC ("we") for using the Nuvari website and app. By creating an account you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy.

What Nuvari is

Nuvari gives you SI mentors that help you practice skills. It's for learning and personal growth. It is not therapy, and it doesn't give medical, legal, financial or investment advice. Mentors are SI and can be wrong, so use your own judgment, and talk to a qualified professional for anything important. If you're in crisis or in danger, contact your local emergency number right away.

Your account

Nuvari is for people 18 and over. You must be at least 18 years old to use it. By creating an account you confirm that you are, and we close any account we learn belongs to someone younger.
Keep access to your email and sign-in accounts secure. You're responsible for activity on your account.
Give accurate information when you sign up.

Using Nuvari fairly

Don't use Nuvari to:

break the law or help anyone else break it;
harass, threaten or harm anyone, or create sexual content involving minors;
try to get around usage limits, access other people's data, or attack or overload the service;
copy, resell or scrape Nuvari, or use it to build a competing product.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.

Profiles, friends, groups and invites

Adults only. Nuvari, including profiles, friends and groups, is only for people 18 and over. You confirm that you are when you sign up and again when you set up a profile.
Private by default. Only friends you've accepted can see your profile, and only the parts you choose to show: your name, username, an optional photo, and your skills, levels, streaks and completed goals. Friends never see your chats, memories, exercise answers or anything you type to a mentor. You can hide any skill, and remove or block a friend at any time.
Groups. Anyone with a group's link or code can join it, up to 20 people, so share it only with people you want in. Everyone in a group sees each other's name, username, days practiced this week and (if they show streaks) streak, and can view each other's profile as described above. Nobody sees your chats, memories, answers or exams. The creator can remove members and delete the group, and anyone can leave at any time. You can mute a group's notifications. If a group's creator deletes their account, the group is deleted.
Be decent. Names, usernames, group names, challenges and photos can't be offensive, can't pretend to be someone else or the Nuvari team, and can't include links, emails or phone numbers. Don't send unwanted requests or harass anyone. We filter names, review reports, and may remove content or close accounts.
Reports. You can report a profile. We look at reports but can't promise a response to each one.
Invite rewards. When a friend joins with your invite and finishes setting up, you both get extra messages for a limited time. Rewards have limits, can change or end, and don't apply to accounts made to collect them. We may take back a reward gained that way.

Group chats

Each group has one chat. Everything you write in it is seen by everyone in the group, including people who join later with the group's link or code. Share the link only with people you want there, and don't write anything you wouldn't say to the whole group. Don't share other people's private information.
Be decent. No slurs, threats, harassment, spam or anything illegal. Messages that include slurs or threats are blocked automatically, but the filter isn't perfect. You can report any message, block anyone, mute the group or leave at any time. We review reports, which include the reported message and the ones around it, and may remove messages, remove people from a group or close accounts.
The group's creator can remove members and delete messages. You can delete your own messages. A deleted message is erased for everyone, but a copy attached to a report is kept for as long as we need to review it.
The group mentor is an SI that only answers when someone asks it, by tapping "Ask mentor" or writing @mentor. Its replies are seen by the whole group and use up one of the messages of the person who asked. It remembers things about the group from the chat, like the subject, what you've covered and where people are stuck. It doesn't see anyone's private chats, memories or exercise answers. It can make mistakes, so check anything important.
Group quizzes are made by SI from the group's subject or shared notes, and your answers and scores are visible to the group. Notes you share are read into study topics that everyone in the group can see. Only share notes you have the right to use.
Messages, notes and quiz results are deleted when the group is deleted, and your messages and answers are deleted when you delete your account.

Study material you upload

Exam mode lets you upload notes, slides or a syllabus (PDFs, images and text files). Only upload material you have the right to use for studying, and nothing that includes other people's private information.
Your files are private to you and stored encrypted. We use them only to build your study topics, plan and quizzes, as described in the Privacy Policy. Files have a size limit, and storage per account is limited.
Nuvari is powered by third-party AI. Its replies, including in Chat, can contain mistakes, so check important information before you rely on it.
Quizzes, plans and readiness scores are made by SI from your material and can contain mistakes. Check them against your course materials, and don't treat a readiness score as a prediction of your exam result.
Deleting a file, an exam or your account deletes the files and everything made from them.

Spoken practice

In public speaking, interview prep and language skills you can answer out loud. Your browser or device turns your voice into text, using its own speech-to-text service. Depending on your browser, that service may be run by its maker (for example Google for Chrome, or Apple for Safari) and is covered by their terms, not ours. Nuvari never receives or stores the recording.
Scores for pace, filler words, clarity and structure, and the tip, are made by a mix of counting and SI. They are feedback to help you practice, can be wrong (speech-to-text often misses words, and leaves out "um" and "uh"), and aren't an assessment of your ability or a prediction of how an interview or talk will go.
Each scored answer uses one of your messages. You can delete your scores whenever you like.

Progress records

When you complete a skill level, Nuvari makes you a progress record: the skill, the level, how many exercises you completed and the date. It shows practice you did in Nuvari. It is not an official qualification, grade or endorsement of any kind, and you shouldn't present it as one.
A record is private to you until you create a link to it, and then anyone who has the link can see it. You choose whether to share the link, you can turn the link off at any time, and you're responsible for who you give it to. If you add a name to the card, that name is shown too. Only people 18 and over can add a name, and names are checked like usernames.

Your content

What you write in Nuvari is yours. You give us permission to store and process it only to run Nuvari for you, as described in the Privacy Policy. You can download or delete it at any time.

Plans and payment

The Free plan includes: Up to 100 messages a week (a rolling 7 days) and up to 2 active skills. Every message that gets a reply counts, and each one frees up 7 days after you send it.
Nuvari Pro costs 12.99 a month (plus any applicable tax) and includes up to 1,000 messages a week (your messages reset 7 days after your first message of the period), unlimited skills, custom skills, weekly reviews, and exam mode with up to 10 exams.
Usage may be slowed or paused before the weekly message limit is reached if an account's usage is unusually heavy.
Every plan has a monthly allowance of SI use. If you use an unusually large amount in a month, SI use may pause for the rest of that month, until the 1st of the next month. Your plan, memories and progress are never affected, and the allowance starts fresh each month.
Pro renews automatically each month until you cancel. Cancel any time: on the website under Settings, then Subscription; or in the App Store or Google Play if you subscribed there. You keep Pro until the end of the period you've paid for.
All purchases are final and non-refundable, except where required by law.
There are no pro-rated credits for unused time, including on annual plans. Free months earned through referrals have no cash value.
If we change prices, we'll tell you at least 30 days before the change affects you.

Referral rewards

You can earn free months of Nuvari Pro by inviting friends. A friend counts once, when they verify their email and subscribe to Nuvari Pro. For each friend who counts, you get one month of Pro free, up to 12 months in total.
Friends who use a disposable email address, or invitations sent to yourself, don't count. If we find abuse, we may remove rewards, and we may close an account that abuses the program.
A free month has no cash value and can't be exchanged for money. A free month of Pro is given to people who aren't paying. For Pro subscribers it's a one-month credit on the next invoice.
We may change or end the referral program. Rewards already earned stay as they are.

Changes and availability

We're always improving Nuvari, so features may change. We try to keep it running smoothly but can't promise it will always be available or error free. If we change these terms in an important way, we'll tell you before the changes apply.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time under Settings, then Privacy and data. We may close accounts that break these terms, and we'll tell you why unless the law prevents it.

Disclaimers and liability

Nuvari is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States.
